Welcome to my wedding planning blog; I am currently planning my wedding for April next year and I thought I would document the whole process; the good the bad and the stressful :)
The biggest stress for me so far has been the thought of wedding dress shopping. As a plus size (size 24ish) mum of two, the thought of trying on a wedding dress has been filling me with complete dread and terror. Am I going to look fat? Stupid? Is everyone going to be looking at all my lumps and bumps? Are they going to get past the size of my arms and think I look amazing? All these questions have been piling on almost to the point where I don’t even want to go anymore. At one point a family member told me I needed to loose weight in the next 3 months ‘to look fantastic on my wedding day.’ That one made me feel amazing I’ll tell you!
However! After stopping and taking a moment to breath through the panic I have come to the conclusion that I am bloody beautiful no matter what size I am, that I deserve to feel beautiful and my hubby to be is going to think I look amazing no matter what. Why should I care what everyone else thinks? It’s about me and him and that’s all that matters! Do I feel like this all the time? No. Will I feel like the self confidence has gone sometimes? Yes. But will it come back? 100%. Our beauty is not our size, our beauty is our smile and our capacity to love (but also those comfy curves that bring out the sass) so I’ve decided to love me. All of me.
Over the next few months I aim to do a blog series around dress shopping as a plus size woman, talking to different shops, different women who are currently dress shopping and women who have previously been shopping as plus size bride. I also would like to talk to seamstresses who have worked on plus size dresses. The aim of this blog is to start a conversation about an industry that yet again is not set up for us larger ladies and to ultimately help women all over the world feel great in themselves. We should be celebrating that little bit extra not hating it.

I can’t wait to document more of the research and looking on my journey to finding THE dress
Much love xx
